You are reading this article because you really need some information about blogging. And you are novice in this topic. This article is not meant to be a spoon feeding tutorial or a high end tips providing article. I am not saying that this article will give you everything about blogging. Blogging is something like cycling. You have to learn how to ride a cycle first then only you can show some cool cycling tricks. A guide can only dive you some ideas but it is you who rides the cycle and improvising. Blogging is exactly like this. You are the master. But first you have to be a good disciple then a researcher and the master.
This article has some information, experience and some tips, which I gathered during my blogging career. For this article I have provided my own blogs as examples so you can have a look and get some idea.
Have you noticed the heading of this article? It is “starting your blogger career” not “Starting your first blog”. It is because there are several types of bloggers like problogger (serious blogger), amateurs, hobbyist, free lancers etc. The problogger treat blogging as a career. (e.g.: www.fermicg.com). Some of them use blog as their portfolio site for showing their work. (e.g.: http://animkerala.blogspot.in. Some of them use it as photo blog (e.g. http://macrohawk.blogspot.in
Before starting a blog you have to decide what your goal is. (A professional blog, tutorial blog, Art/photo blog etc.) If you are doing blogging just for making some quick money it is going to happen in a couple of days or weeks. It will take a lot of time and hard work.( My advice is that instead of making your own blog you can be a guest blogger of famous sites. They will pay some money if your article is really good.)
You decided to start a blog. OK then you has to answer some questions. Not to me but to yourself.
· What are you going to publish? (The type and nature of the article. Literature, tutorial, fashion, technology, photo, art etc.)
· How you want to present it? (As plain text, with images and graphics, with animation and audio)
· Are you willing to spend some money? (If you want to make blogging as a profession you have to spend some initial money for buying domain, getting cool themes etc. You can make free blogs and later invest money in to it.)
· Who are your target audience? (All internet surfers, specific groups, community, nation, age group etc.)
· Do you have enough time? (If you think you can make an article within 5 minutes that won’t make you a good blogger. At least you have to research about the topic.)
· Are you capable of delivering good and unique content?
The fact is that most of the people start blogging in a hurry post so many articles on the go and stop blogging after few months because they find it is not worthy. But the research shows that the fresh blogs will make up popularity only after a year. Sometimes they won’t. You have to work hard, deliver good content, and promote it. You have to worry about SEO marketing, targeting, page rank etc.
Again do a good research and make a good decision.
